ROHM uses its expertise in product planning and circuit design cultivated through years of manufacturing custom ICs and employs a uniform production system to ensure a steady, continuous supply of stable, high-quality products.

To meet the needs of next generation devices, ROHM develops analog and digital technologies to design innovative ICs such as MSDL serial transmission transceivers/transmitters for mobile phones featuring low power consumption and low EMI; voice synthesis ICs that provide high fidelity, CD-quality voice guidance functionality; sound source ICs that utilize ADPCM compression technology; and AIE (Adaptive Image Enhancer) video processing IC that adjusts the gradation of only specific (dark) areas of images in real time based on ambient light improving visibility.

EEPROMS

A serial EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) is non-volatile memory that can be overwritten in units of bytes and is used for data storage.

ROHM's high reliability serial EEPROMs are available in a variety of bus interfaces (Microwire, I2C, SPI), operating voltages (1.8V to 5.5V, 2.5V to 5.5V) and package types making them ideal for battery powered devices. The entire series utilizes unique, double cell construction to improve reliability.

High-performance and 3ch Programmable Clock Generators

ROHM’s highly efficient clock generator series can generate the clocks used with AV equipment (digital cameras and DVD recorders) including the clock synchronized with the input clock. Integrating the entire clock system into a single chip simplifies and increases board space.

The 3ch programmable clock generator series integrates a 3ch PLL. The frequency of each PLL can be set via serial interface control making it compatible with a wide range of digital applications. Sudden frequency changes are handled via rewriting through the register, and the IC is suitable for sets with different frequencies resulting in efficient parts management and shorter development time.

Voltage Detector ICs

ROHM’s voltage detector ICs are reset ICs with highly accurate detection voltage (±1%), low current consumption, small thin packages and a wide voltage detection range. They are used for applications with microcontrollers, CPUs, DSPs and other controllers.

Both CMOS and open drain output are available. A standard SSOP package is offered that is pin- and function-compatible making it ideal as a replacement in existing systems. Thin, compact packages are also available – optimized for implementation in small spaces (e.g. near microcontrollers).

Power Management ICs

ROHM's power management ICs include LDOs, CMOS LDOs, standard/switching regulators, power management switch ICs, system power supplies, and charge protection ICs. They are suitable for a variety of applications from PCs and portables to automotives.

LED / LCD Drivers

ROHM LED and LCD drivers are used for color LCD backlighting in mobile phones, MP3 players and more. Our lineup includes drivers with auto luminous control and low power consumption, drivers with built-in LDO for compact devices, drivers with RGB automatic illuminations, which reduces soft load, and drivers for flash. The wide lineup allows you to choose the ideal LED driver for your set.

Our STN LCD drivers are compatible with a wide variety of mobile phone LCD panels, ranging from sub-display monochrome LCDs to main full-color LCD panels. High image quality is ensured due to the built-in auto-contrast function and high precision reference power supply. Step-up voltage circuit and capacitors required for a variety of amps are integrated for more compact, power-saving designs.

We also have large panel LCD drivers for driving various LCD panels for PC monitors, laptops and TVs. These drivers feature RSDS and mini-LVDS for low power consumption and low EMI amplitude differential communications. Products are available in a range of gray scales (6bit to 8bit), outputs (384 and up), and channels.

Our segment driver series ranges from 72 segments to up to 200 segments and are ideal for meter devices, AV equipment, and household appliances.

Sensor ICs

ROHM’s sensor IC lineup includes Hall ICs, ALS (Ambient Light Sensor) ICs, small, high accuracy temperature sensor ICs, and capacitive sensor control ICs.

Our Hall ICs for magnetic switches integrate a highly sensitive Hall element that open or close switches upon detection of a magnetic field without physical contact–increasing reliability.

Our ALS ICs detect a wide range of illumination from darkness to sunlight. The ICs output illumination data to adjust the brightness of the LCD display. The ICs also reduce power consumption and improve visibility by controlling the brightness of the LCD display and the keypad backlight.

Our temperature sensor ICs integrate a temperature detection element, constant current circuit, and high-accuracy reference voltage source in a single chip–eliminating the need for troublesome circuit design.

Operational Amplifiers / Comparators

Operational amplifiers are general purpose ICs that incorporate phase compensation for use in analog and digital circuits requiring amplification (attenuation) such as buffer, integration, and differential circuits.

Comparators are ICs that allow arbitrary setting of the reference voltage and are indispensible components in current/voltage detection and protection circuits.

ROHM offers a full lineup of op-amps and comparators including bipolar, CMOS, ground sense (single power supply), dual supply, high voltage resistance, low noise, low saturation, low current consumption, and input/output full swing types.

Analog Switches / Logic

ROHM’s analog switches and general-purpose logic ICs are compatible with 4S while our 4000B series is compatible with high power supply voltage and integrates 1-4 circuits to accommodate a variety of applications.

Our broad lineup of serial-in/parallel-out driver ICs with port expansion capabilities increase design flexibility by alleviating shortage problems and complications associated with LED-equipped devices.

D / A Convertors

ROHM’s lineup of D/A converters work with today's microcontrollers to deliver precise control of analog voltages. A variety of resolutions, channels, and functions are offered to meet a broad range of design and application requirements and are ideal for sophisticated equipment requiring greater precision and functionality.

IT Equipment / Interface ICs

ROHM offers wireless LAN modules and front-end chipsets for DVD-ROM drives that are ideal for a variety of IT equipment and has developed a lineup of IC card and LVDS interface ICs along with MSDL transceivers for mobile phones and IrDA controller ICs.

Video and Imaging ICs

ROHM carries a variety of video and imaging ICs from adaptive image enhancers and digital video encoders to LCD timing control ICs.

We have HDMI switches and buffers that support 1080P Full HD and Deep Color for multimedia monitors and flat panel TVs.

Our video switch ICs are ideal for a variety of applications in addition to switching input signals in TVs and monitors such as OSDs (On Screen Displays) that superimpose text and other images.

Our digital video encoder ICs enable images to be viewed on a TV monitor, and a digital filter is built-in for better image quality. Both multifunction and simple types are available for greater compatibility.

We offer a broad lineup of video processing ICs that enable viewing of video signals on TVs and monitors.

Our LCD timing control ICs feature low power consumption and low EMI amplitude differential communications LVDS and RSDS cores in order to generate control signals based on the image data at different panel resolutions. Besides basic output control timing, the timing can be adjusted by attaching an external EEPROM.

Our analog front end ICs for image sensors feature complete analog signal processing for CCD and contact image sensors at a sampling rate of up to 12MSPS.

Audio ICs

ROHM has a wide range of ICs for audio applications including wireless audio link ICs, FM radio one-chip ICs, audio amps, voice synthesis ICs, sound processors, and digital/audio accessories.

We have wireless audio link ICs that transmit music via FM waves to an FM tuner enabling high-quality playback. Features include a built-in pre-emphasis, limiter, LPF, stereo modulation circuits and PLL frequency synthesizer on a single chip.

Our FM radio single-chip ICs integrate all of the functions required of an FM radio receiver such as a front end, IF, and FM/stereo demodulation, on a single chip and are ideal for portables.

We offer a variety of speaker/headphone amplifiers optimized for portables.

Our hi-fi voice synthesis ICs with/without internal ROM enable selection of the optimal solution based on set requirements. Both types utilize unique compression technology for superior sound quality with minimal file sizes making them equally compatible with music and voice guidance applications.

Our lineup of FPD TV ICs enable high fidelity audio reproduction through utilization of original, cutting-edge sound control technologies that result in realistic sound throughout the entire frequency range.

The series of digital sound processors for car audio uses the 32bit RISC-type ARM9 core and includes audio ADC/DAC and an asynchronous sampling rate converter on a single chip.
Our USB host audio decoder ICs integrate a USB 2.0 host, SD memory card controller, AAC decoder, WMA decoder, MP3 decoder, audio DAC amp, and a system controller on a single chip for playback of music stored on a USB flash memory using an audio player.

We have melody sound source ICs that are capable of generating MIDI-quality sounds: 64 polyphonic + 128 instruments + 47 drum sets + 32 effects. Ideal for producing voice, karaoke and game sounds in any application.
